The Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria (ECCV) is inviting Expressions of Interest from young people aged 18-26 to join our Multicultural Young Advocacy Group (MYAG) and help shape mental health support for young people.

MYAG participants will work with the ECCV team to design youth mental health training for professionals and co-deliver mental health self-advocacy workshops. They will have the opportunity to advocate for young people from migrant and refugee communities, gain project, presentation and leadership experience and connect with like-minded peers and professionals. Participants will also make a lasting contribution to Victorian Government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Reform agenda.

MYAG participants must be available in September to meet once a week for two hours (Tuesday or Thursday), with the first presentation taking place on Tuesday, 8 October 2024.

We are seeking young people who:

  • Are from migrant or refugee background, bringing valuable perspectives on the unique challenges faced by these communities.
  • Have lived or living experience of mental ill health, either personally or through a family member.
  • Have a keen interest in mental health and a desire to contribute to improving mental health services for young people.
  • Are willing to share their experiences and contribute to the development of the module.
  • Are comfortable speaking in front of groups, as they will co-deliver workshops.

This is a volunteer role and leadership development opportunity.
