COVID-19 Multicultural Outreach

ECCV is supporting Victoria’s migrant and refugee communities through the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine program, as well as continuing to inform and support COVIDSafe responses in multicultural communities.

ECCV’s bilingual community outreach team is currently working alongside health experts to deliver community information sessions for people from migrant and refugee backgrounds across Metropolitan Melbourne.

The sessions are an opportunity for community members to ask questions about vaccines and keeping COVIDSafe.

ECCV is partnering with a range of community organisations, including sporting clubs, ethnic associations and social groups, to help keep migrant and refugee communities engaged, supported and informed during the pandemic.

If you would like to organise an information session for your community, email us at eccv@eccv.org.au.

    Supporting our communities

In 2021, ECCV’s COVID-19 Outreach Program worked across two streams: targeted outreach to priority communities and dedicated outreach to seniors through ethnic seniors’ clubs, ethnic associations and social groups.

Community education was delivered through information sessions, workshops and forums for ECCV members and other organisations across metropolitan Melbourne, focusing on priority cohorts, including those communities deemed most at risk in accessing appropriate health pathways and supports.

In total, the Program held eight sessions targeted at older people from Arabic, Greek, Gujrati, Hindi, Italian and Mandarin-speaking backgrounds. The Program also held 23 sessions aimed at engaging with at-risk people, including young people and people with disability, from Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Gujrati, Hindi, Italian, Kurdish, Mandarin, Punjabi, Somali, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese speaking backgrounds as well as a session in Simple English for the South Sudanese community.
