Elder Abuse Prevention
The Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria coordinates a statewide project delivering community education and raising awareness of elder abuse, its prevention and supports among culturally and linguistically diverse seniors in Victoria.
The project is delivered in partnership with Seniors Rights Victoria.
Since 2012, ECCV has developed culturally appropriate community education resources, including 16 community education kits, in-language brochures and the ‘Within my Walls’ video series, available in 14 languages.

Elder Abuse Bicultural Community Education Training
In collaboration with SRV, ECCV conducts free Elder Abuse Bicultural Community Educator training sessions for people working with CALD seniors, support services or community organisations.
Once they have completed their training, ECCV also supports bicultural community educators to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate information sessions to raise awareness of elder abuse in their communities and direct them to the appropriate support services available in Victoria.
The training was adapted in response to COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 and now also runs online.
