We are pleased to share ECCV’s Annual Report 2024–25, reflecting on a year of hard work and strong engagement with migrant and refugee communities across the state.
Amid rising racism, cost-of-living pressures and the ongoing impact of global instability, ECCV continued to ensure multicultural communities are heard and empowered.
The Annual Report highlights the impact of ECCV’s practical, community-focused projects across Victoria:
- Emergency management: The Prepare and Be Safe online hub and Triple Zero simulator, developed with multicultural communities, provide accessible multilingual guidance for emergency situations.
- Elder abuse prevention: More than 530 participants took part in workshops, and ECCV expanded its Dignity & Respect resources to additional languages.
- Mental health: Training delivered across the state strengthened the capacity of services to respond to multicultural communities, alongside the new Together We Can lived-experience video series.
- Disability advocacy: ECCV expanded youth leadership programs and produced new in-language content as part of the national Speak My Language (Disability) initiative.
- Multicultural ageing: ECCV advanced policy work on aged care reform and supported seniors’ clubs through governance training and capacity building.
This year, ECCV played also a leading role in shaping government policy, across a number of areas.
Notably, we contributed to the Victorian Multicultural Review, hosting members of the advisory group for open dialogue and offering a major submission informed by the insights of members and community leaders.
The Review’s findings underscore the need to rebuild trust with multicultural communities and strengthen policies that reflect lived experience, work ECCV plans to continue throughout the year ahead.
