Information Sessions for Seniors Groups
ECCV is committed to advocating for and supporting Victoria’s multicultural and ethno-specific seniors groups. One of the ways we do this is by offering free information sessions on a range of issues designed to promote the health and wellbeing of group members and to improve the sustainability of the groups.
Each information session runs between 1-2 hours and is adapted to meet the needs of your group. Sessions are conducted in language where possible.
You can request one of the following information sessions for your seniors group:
Respectful Relationships
This information session raises awareness about the rights of older people, helps to identify if older family members are being mistreated and provides information about appropriate support services. The session raises awareness about elder abuse and what preventative measures people can put in place to ensure that their rights are being protected.
Financial Planning and Benefits
This information session includes topics related to payments and services available to seniors including aged care pension, managing income and assets, age care services, budgeting and saving, retirement planning and superannuation.
Improving Computer and Online Skills
This information session is aimed at supporting leaders of community groups to improve their knowledge and skills in using technology, connect with support agencies online and prepare online applications for grants. Participants will also learn how to arrange digital literacy training for the members of their seniors group on using their mobile phone, tablet and computer to access social media, use telehealth, shop online and stay safe on the internet.
Governance and Funding Opportunities
This information session is aimed at group leaders interested in learning about grants and funding opportunities available to help support their seniors’ groups. Topics covered include where to look for grants; how to submit grant applications; how to prepare reports and how to manage grants.
