Access & Support Network

What is the Access & Support program?

The Access and Support (A&S) program supports people with diverse needs to live independently at home by providing them with information and connecting them with in-home aged care service providers.

The program supports seniors aged 65 years and older who are eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and people aged under 65 who are eligible for the Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC PYP). The program also supports people who face barriers accessing support services due to a range of diverse needs, such as people who are homeless, people who are care leavers, or people who are financially or socially disadvantaged.

ECCV supports improved access to appropriate in-home aged care services for vulnerable groups by facilitating the Access & Support (A&S) Network. The Network gives ECCV valuable insight into the local experiences of ethnic communities across Victoria, and provides a platform for raising issues at all levels of government.

Access & Support Network

ECCV has coordinated and chaired the Access and Support (A&S) Network since 2012.

The Network provides a platform to discuss issues related to A&S services, offer peer support, share best practice, stay informed of sector updates, and promote advocacy opportunities and share strategies for strengthening A&S services across the state.

The Network also allows dialogue with the Department of Health & Aged Care and State Health Department to help inform and improve the reform process for the aged care system.

The Network is the only one of its kind in Victoria, and currently has around 100 members. Network meetings are held bimonthly.

Access & Support Directory

As facilitator of the Access & Support Network, ECCV also maintains and publishes the Victorian Access & Support Network Directory, which is a comprehensive summary of A&S services across the state that includes the following information:

  • Region
  • Local Government Area
  • Service Provider Name
  • Client Target Group
  • Contact Details

The Victorian A&S Directory is updated regularly.
